Fifth-Generation Fighter Jets Arriving in India, Six P-81 Aircraft to be Acquired

Fifth generation fighter jets are arriving in India. Modi and Trump signed the US-India Major Defense Partnership Agreement. India will receive 6 P-81 aircraft. With this, it will be possible to detect and destroy Chinese submarines deployed in the Indian Ocean if necessary.

P-81 aircraft will break China’s power at sea. The US has announced a policy review for the transfer of fifth-generation fighter jets and underwater warfare systems to India. India is the first country with which the US has agreed to co-develop sensitive UDA technologies. This system will also be known as the Triton Autonomous Underwater and Surface Vehicles

Modi and Trump signed new deals for Javelin anti-tank missiles and Stryker armored fighting vehicles. The agreement also includes an expansion of US platforms in Indian defense services. These will also include international traffic to streamline technology transfers and spare parts supply.

The acceleration of defense technology cooperation across space, air defense, missile, maritime, and undersea warfare was also discussed.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met US President Donald Trump at the White House for high-level talks on defence, trade, technology and energy. President Trump welcomed Prime Minister Modi with a warm hug before sitting down for talks. The meeting followed Prime Minister Modi’s pit stop in France, hours after President Trump announced new reciprocal tariff policies targeting all US trading partners, including India.

The meeting of Prime Minister Modi and President Trump announced the Compact (Stimulating Opportunities for 21st Century Military Partnerships, Accelerated Commerce, and Technology), an initiative aimed at transforming bilateral cooperation in the areas of defense, investment, trade, energy, innovation, and multilateral partnerships.
