UN Security Council to convene soon amid escalating India-Pakistan border tensions following Pahalgam terror attack
Amid escalating tensions along the India-Pakistan border following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, reports indicate that the United Nations Security Council will soon convene for an emergency meeting. India is preparing to demonstrate its military strength, with Indian Air Force fighter jets conducting training flights in Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, reports suggest that provocations from Pakistan along the border continue.
The news of the UN Security Council meeting comes as India intensifies its measures both at the military and diplomatic levels. Continued border clashes between two nuclear-armed nations have raised global concern. Evangelos Sekeris, Greece’s permanent representative to the UN and the President of the Security Council for May, stated that the issue would be discussed in the council in response to the tensions.
As part of national security-related interventions, India has blocked the official YouTube channel of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Additionally, the accounts of Pakistani cricketers Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Haris Rauf have also been banned in India.
Recently, the Instagram account of Olympic gold medalist and Pakistani javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem was also blocked in India. Sixteen Pakistani YouTube channels were also banned in the country for spreading provocative and communal content.
In a show of military readiness, the Indian Air Force conducted training flights involving its fighter jets. The exercises took place on a newly constructed airstrip along the Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh, where Rafale, MiG, Sukhoi, and Mirage aircraft took off and landed. This new airstrip is designed for emergency use in adverse weather and wartime conditions. It also supports nighttime landings and takeoffs for military aircraft.
