Thiruvananthapuram: The Finance Department has instructed a thorough review of the welfare pension beneficiaries across the state, in collaboration with the Local Self-Government Department.
The review will be conducted at the ward level, with plans to evaluate eligibility criteria within a stipulated timeframe. Following irregularities identified by the Finance Audit Wing, instructions have also been issued for vigilance inquiries against officials involved.
With nearly 60 lakh beneficiaries in the state, the possibility of ineligible individuals receiving benefits cannot be ruled out. The CPM leadership has emphasized the need for stringent and continuous scrutiny.
