Fraud Case: Congress Leader Lali Vincent Accused

Kannur: Ananthu Krishnan is accused of orchestrating a massive fraud worth crores of rupees under the guise of the *Women on Wheels* scheme, which falsely promised two-wheelers to women at half price. As complaints against Ananthu Krishnan surged, the case is now being transferred to the Crime Branch for further investigation. Congress leader Lali Vincent has also been named as an accused in the case.

The case, registered by Kannur Town Police, lists Lali Vincent as the seventh accused among a total of seven suspects, including Ananthu Krishnan. Due to the growing number of complaints, the investigation is being escalated. So far, 15 cases have been filed against Ananthu Krishnan, including six complaints received at the police headquarters. Most of the victims of the fraud are from Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, and Ernakulam districts. Initial reports suggest that Ananthu Krishnan’s fraud amounts to approximately ₹350 crore across the state.

Ananthu Krishnan falsely claimed to be the National Coordinator of the National NGO Federation and convinced people that he was responsible for handling Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds of various companies in India. He carried out transactions using multiple consultancies registered in his name. However, during police interrogation, Ananthu admitted that he had not received any CSR funds from any company.

By promising scooters at half price under various schemes, he defrauded people of over ₹300 crore. Following his arrest, more than 1,200 women came forward with complaints, claiming to be victims of the scam.
