Kochi: In connection with the ganja case involving film directors Khalid Rahman and Ashraf Hamza, the Excise Department has issued a notice to director Sameer Thahir, the owner of the flat where the incident allegedly took place. He has been asked to appear for questioning within a week. Assistant Excise Commissioner M.F. Suresh stated that the person who introduced the supplier of ganja to the directors will also be summoned for questioning.
Only after that will the actual supplier be brought in for interrogation. Following their statements, Khalid Rahman and Ashraf Hamza may be summoned again if necessary. Authorities suspect that the flat was frequently used for drug consumption and that substances other than ganja may have also been involved.
Khalid Rahman, Ashraf Hamza, and their friend Shalif Mohammed were arrested with 1.6 grams of hybrid ganja during a midnight raid conducted by the Excise Department. Due to the small quantity, the arrested individuals were released on station bail after the initial proceedings.
Khalid Rahman is known for directing films like Alappuzha Gymkhana and Thallumaala, while Ashraf Hamza has directed Thamaasha and Bheeman’s Path. The raid was based on confidential information. Following the arrest, film body FEFKA took disciplinary action by suspending both directors.
