Thiruvananthapuram: The Thiruvananthapuram Corporation has admitted failure in the garbage problem at Amayizhanchan Thot. The mayor suspended the health inspector of the corporation who made the complaint. Secretariat Circle Inspector K. Ganesh has been suspended. The action follows the internal investigation report of the corporation.
Joy, a native of Neyatinkara Marayamuttam, who went to clean the Amayizhanchan stream, went missing in the current and searched for three days. The body was found later. Railways and Railways have held the Government responsible for the removal of waste from the canal. This action of the corporation comes at a time when the government and the corporation are trying to escape by blaming each other.
Secretariat Circle Health Inspector K Ganesh is in charge of the area which includes the Rajaji Nagar, Palayam and Thambanoor parts where the Amayizhanchan stream passes. According to the internal investigation report submitted to Mayor Arya Rajendran, if Ganesh had done his job properly, so much garbage would not have accumulated.
