Amoebic encephalitis, three and a half year old boy on ventilator, two children under treatment

Kozhikode: Two children who were diagnosed with amoebic encephalitis are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kozhikode. A three-and-a-half-year-old boy from Kannur is on ventilator. The condition of the four-year-old boy, a native of Kozhikode, is satisfactory. This child has been moved to the room. Final test results for disease confirmation may come today.

This was India’s first case of recovery from amoebic encephalitis. The mortality rate in this condition is up to 97 percent. Only 11 people worldwide have survived the disease.
