Archery World Cup Stage 3: Deepika Kumari completes hat-trick of gold medals in Paris

Superstar athlete Deepika Kumari completed a hat-trick of gold medals at the Archery World Cup Stage 3 in Paris on Sunday after winning the women’s individual recurve event. Deepika Kumari beat Elena Osipova of Russia 6-0 in the final to clinch her third gold medal at the tournament. Deepika has also won the top prize in the mixed team and women’s individual recurve events. She teamed up with her husband Atanu Das to beat the Netherlands duo of Sjef van den Berg and Gabriela Schloesser 5-3.

Before Deepika, Ankita Bhakat and Komalika Bari defeate d Mexico to win gold in the women’s recurve team event. “I’m happy, but at the same time I have to continue my performance like this,” Kumari was quoted as saying by World Archery’s official website. “I want to improve that, because the upcoming tournament (Tokyo Olympics) is very, very important to us. I’m trying my best to continue learning whatever I can.” She said that she is looking forward to winning medals in the Tokyo Games.Deepika Kumari will be the sole woman representing India in Archery in the Tokyo Olympics. In a repeat of the World Cup first stage final, the troika of World No. 3 Deepika, Ankita and Komalika, who failed to qualify for Tokyo following a shock loss to minnow Colombia, defeated fancied Mexico 5-1 without dropping a set.
