Malappuram: A gold smuggling gang kidnapped a young man, beat him up and left him on the road. A 30-year-old man named Sahad was abducted from his home. Later, a ransom of Rs 1 crore was demanded from his family. After failing to get the money, Sahad was brutally beaten and left on the roadside in Randathani.
Injured in the attack, Sahad was admitted to a private hospital in Kottakal. His face and head were severely injured. The police responded that people related to gold smuggling, including in Karipur, were behind the incident and attacked with weapons.
A group arrived in two cars around 8 pm on Friday night and took Sahad away from his house. The abduction was alleged that Sahad had betrayed the information of gold smuggling to someone else. Police have identified the perpetrators.
