Kalpetta: Five people, including nursing students, were arrested for trying to smuggle drugs in a car. Faisal Razi, Muhammad Asanul Shaduli, Sobin Kuriakos from Wayanad, Delbin Shaji Joseph from Malappuram and Muhammad Bawa from Ernakulam were arrested.
204 grams of methamphetamine was seized during the inspection at Bavali Excise Check Post. The narcotics were hidden inside the covering under the steering wheel of the Hyundai Eon car in which the youth came with insulation tape.
Excise also said that the methamphetamine purchased from Bengaluru was delivered to Vythiri areas of Kalpatta for retail sale. The purpose of the accused was to retail methamphetamine at a price of Rs 4000 per gram purchased from a wholesale distributor in Bengaluru for Rs 2 lakh.
