Government Plans to Regulate Private Tourist Bus Ticket Prices on Interstate Highways

The government is also planning to regulate the ticket prices of private tourist buses on interstate highways. Government moves to implement aggregator policy for online ticket sales. With this, the government may also impose restrictions on the basic rate of contract carriage vehicles.

All ticket sellers through websites and mobile apps have been mandated to have a license under the aggregator policy. Autorickshaws, taxis etc,are currently charged. The policy has strict requirements including training and health insurance for drivers. Online ticket sales will not take place without compliance.

The online policy will also prevent ‘Robin Model’ experiments, which accept bookings under the guise of All India Permits and run like route buses. If you want to sell tickets, you will have to follow the rules of the Motor Vehicle Department.
