The search for the lorry driver Arjun, a native of Kozhikode Kannadikal, who went missing in the landslide, is on its 11th day. Karwar MLA Satish Sai said that a floating bridge will be built in the Gangavali river to find Arjun’s lorry. Canoes have been brought to the place where the lorry is believed to be. The MLA said that the site where the tea shop stood and the remains of the adjacent house will be inspected and the process will continue. Plan B to search Shirur, fishing boats reach Shirur.
Efforts are still on to find Arjun’s truck. Heavy rains and strong currents in the Gangavali river are challenging the mission. Scuba divers can go down the river only if the weather is favorable.
The continued strong winds and rains in Shirur are a crisis for the rescue mission. The army informed that if the situation is favourable, they will go down to the river and search. Meanwhile, it could not be confirmed whether Arjun (30) was inside the lorry. During the thermal imaging examination yesterday, no human body was found inside the lorry under the river.
