District Collector Anu Kumari has issued an order banning the operation of all liquor shops in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation limits, Varkala Municipality limits and Aruvikara and Perungadavila gram panchayat limits from 12:00 pm on August 2nd to 2:00 pm on August 3rd on the occasion of Karkataka Vavubali.
Liquor ban has been imposed as a part of ensuring safety and law and order in areas including Thiruvallam Parashuram Temple, Varkala Papanasham Kadapuram, Aruvikara Devi Temple and Aruvipuram Shiva Temple in the event that women and children arrive for Balitarpanam.
Officials have also informed that the Green Act will be implemented for Karkataka Vavu Sacrifice related ceremonies in temples and Balikadams under the Travancore Devaswom Board. Instead of plastic and flux banners, organic banners made of cloth, paper or straw should be used. It has also been instructed to replace plastic bins with bins made of eco-friendly materials.
