Kalpatta: Opposition leader V.D Satheesan said that the government should find a place for the rehabilitation of disaster victims. VD Satheesan said that they should be housed in rented houses until they are rehabilitated. Arrangements should be made to pay the rent.

VD Satheesan said that the decision to supply water and food to the rescue workers will be taken in tomorrow’s all-party meeting. MLA T Siddique also said that there will be full cooperation from the opposition in the all-party meeting. The MLA added that counseling will be provided to the disaster victims.

Meanwhile, the death toll in the landslide disaster in Wayanad’s Mundakai is rising. 168 people have been confirmed dead so far. Since the rescue operation started in the morning, many bodies have been recovered. Dead bodies are being pulled out from destroyed houses in Mundakai. Currently, 8 dead bodies have been found in four houses in this area.

The sad sight is that there are dead bodies even sitting on chairs. But it is difficult to get the dead bodies out of the collapsed house. The roofs of houses are changed by pulling ropes. Currently, a body has been moved. Panchayat officials said that there are more than 400 houses in the register of the panchayat in Mundakkai alone. It is said that only 35-40 houses are left. Meanwhile, the construction of Bailey Bridge is progressing.
