Gowri Lakshmi Bhai has called for the renaming of Kerala University, stating that the name “Travancore” is fading away and being removed from various institutions. She criticized this trend, emphasizing the historical significance of the Travancore name.
She questioned whether the name “Kerala University” is appropriate, suggesting it be renamed back to “Travancore University,” which was originally founded by Chithira Thirunal Maharaja in 1937. She voiced her concerns during her acceptance speech for the N.V. Sahitya Vedi Award in Thiruvananthapuram, lamenting the loss of the region’s identity and heritage.
