Tamil actor and aspiring politician Rajinikanth celebrates his 70th birthday today, only weeks ahead of the launch of his political party on December 31, making it a momentous occasion not merely for the movie icon but also for Tamil Nadu and Indian national politics.
The veteran artiste, born Shivaji Rao Gaekwad, had last week announced that he will launch his long-anticipated political party in January, five months before the Tamil Nadu election in 2021. An announcement in that regard will be made on December 31, 2020. With this Rajinikanth ended the various speculations about his plunge into Tamil Nadu politics. While fans have loved him as an actor, they are waiting for his to enter the political space and win them all over again. Announcing this in a tweet the veteran actor wrote: “In the upcoming assembly polls, with people’s massive support, in Tamil Nadu, an honest, transparent corruption-less, secular and spiritual politics is sure to happen.”
The megastar has been entertaining us for decades and till date fans are excited before the release of his films. Be it his unique way of delivering dialogues or his ‘superstar’ aura, the actor is much loved, even worshipped by some of his fans. According to reports, Rajinikanth is the highest paid actor in India and the second highest in Asia, the second-highest paid Asian actor after Jackie Chan.
