Thiruvananthapuram: This year’s Harivarasanam Award will be presented to Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri. The award includes a cash prize of one lakh rupees and a certificate of recognition. The award ceremony will be held on January 14th, the day of Makara Vilakku, at the Shabarimala Sannidhanam Auditorium.
In addition to film songs, Kaithapram is also the author of numerous Ayyappa devotional songs. The Harivarasanam Award was introduced by the state government in 2012, with the first award going to singer Yesudas. Last year, the award was given to Tamil playback singer P.K. Veeramani Das. The 2023 Harivarasanam Award was presented to lyricist, director, and novelist Sreekumaran Thampi. In 2022, the award was given to lyricist and music director Alappu Ranganathan, and in 2021, it was awarded to playback singer Veeramani Raju.
