Heat is increasing, yellow alert in Kasaragod and Kannur districts

Thiruvananthapuram: Heat wave warning in Kerala. Considering the rising heat, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in Kasaragod and Kannur districts. The temperature may rise up to 39 degrees Celsius.

Caution is advised in view of the possibility of sunstroke. The temperature may rise up to 37 degrees Celsius in Kozhikode, Malappuram, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kottayam, Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts.

The warning also states that people should be cautious about the risk of sunstroke and sunburn. They should avoid direct sunlight between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Things to note
Do not expose your body to direct sunlight for a long time from 11 am to 3 pm. Drink as much clean water as possible even if you are not thirsty.
Avoid alcohol, coffee, tea, carbonated soft drinks, etc. during the day.
Wear loose , light-colored cotton clothes.

Wear footwear when going out. Use an umbrella or hat.
Eat plenty offruits and vegetables.
Use ORS solution, Sambaram, etc.

There is a possibility of forest fires spreading. Those living near forest areas and tourists should be vigilant.
Clean drinking water and ventilation should be ensured for students in educational institutions ∙
Those engaged in hard work should adjust their working hours and ensure rest.
