Heatwave warning, High temperature warning in eight districts of Kerala

Kerala is burning, Yellow alert in eight districts. Yellow alert for Kollam, Kottayam, Palakkad, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur districts. Today and tomorrow (February 21 & 22, 2024) Kollam, Kottayam and Palakkad districts will experience a maximum temperature of 37°C and Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur districts will experience a maximum temperature of 36°C (2 – 3 °C above normal), the Center said. Meteorological department informs.

The updated warning was issued by the Central Meteorological Department at 1 pm today. The working hours of those working in the sun have been reorganized in the state considering the risk of sunstroke. The working hours of the workers working in the sun have been rescheduled till April 30.

The working hours were fixed as eight hours from seven in the morning to seven in the evening. Daytime workers will be allowed rest from 12 noon to 3 pm. For those on shift system, the shift will end at 12 noon and the arrangement is such that it will resume at 3 pm.
