The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has updated the rain alert in Kerala, issuing an Orange Alert for Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts today, indicating the likelihood of heavy rain. The initial Yellow Alert for these districts was upgraded due to increased rainfall predictions. Heavy rainfall is expected by evening in several areas of these two districts.
A Yellow Alert has also been issued for six other districts: Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Thrissur. However, districts like Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod are not under any rain warning today.
IMD has forecasted strong winds accompanying the rain. The alert for the upcoming days includes:
October 12 (Saturday): Orange Alert for Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam, and Yellow Alert for Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Thrissur.
October 13 (Sunday): Yellow Alert for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, and Palakkad districts.
