Meteorological Center has said that there is a possibility of heavy rain in the coming hours in the state. Heavy rainfall warning has been issued in central and northern districts. Red alert has been announced in Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode districts. Orange alert has been announced in Idukki, Palakkad and Wayanad districts and Yellow alert in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Kannur and Kasaragod districts.
No rain warning has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts. After the onset of monsoon, heavy rains are lashing various parts of the state. Due to the heavy rains, waterlogging has formed in various places in Thrissur city.
Most of the roads in the city were flooded and traffic was blocked. Heavy rain is reported in Idukki and Kottayam. At Ollur, train traffic was disrupted for a short time due to a landslide on the railway track. Two deaths due to lightning have also been reported in Thrissur. The deceased have been identified as Nimisha from Kothamkulam and Ganesan from Vellore.
