Heavy Rain Likely in Kerala Until Thursday, Yellow Alert Issued in Three Districts

The Central Meteorological Department has informed that heavy rain with thunder and lightning is likely to occur at isolated places in the state till Thursday. Yellow alert has been declared in Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Ernakulam districts today and Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts on Wednesday and Thursday.

yellow alert signifies heavy rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours. Fishing is prohibited today along the Kerala-Lakshadweep coasts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of strong winds reaching speeds of up to 45 km/h, occasionally gusting to 55 km/h, along with rough weather along these coasts, urging caution.

The National Centre for Ocean Information Services has also predicted high waves between 0.9 to 1.0 meters and the possibility of “sneaky waves” (false tidal phenomena) along the Kerala coast until 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Fishermen and coastal residents in these areas have been advised to remain vigilant.
