The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for very heavy rain in the state, with a red alert declared for Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, and Idukki districts due to the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall.
An orange alert has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Thrissur districts, considering the likelihood of heavy rainfall. A yellow alert has been declared for Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad districts today due to expected strong rains.
For tomorrow, an orange alert has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Pathanamthitta districts, and a yellow alert for Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Idukki districts.
The weather department forecasts heavy rain in isolated places, with the influence of a strong low-pressure area over the Mannar Sea expected to cause intense and heavy rainfall in the state today and tomorrow.
The IMD has indicated that very heavy rainfall could range from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm in the next 24 hours.
