High Court Directs Strict Inspections in Shawarma Outlets

Kochi: The High Court has intervened in the case of the death of a 16-year-old girl in Kasaragod in 2022 after consuming shawarma. The court directed strict inspections in food outlets selling shawarma and ordered that compliance with food safety regulations must be ensured.

The High Court also instructed the government to revoke the licenses of food outlets that fail to adhere to food safety standards and to take strict action against such establishments. Additionally, the High Court directed the trial court to expedite the resolution of the compensation claim in the case.
