High Court Issues Strict Orders Regarding Chicken Biryani Served Near Padmanabhaswamy Temple

Kochi: The High Court has issued strict orders regarding the incident of chicken biryani being served in the dining room of the Executive Officer’s office at the Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. The incident in question occurred on July 6.

The court instructed that action should be taken against the responsible officials. It clarified that if there has been any temporary or permanent encroachment on temple land, appropriate measures must be initiated. The verdict was delivered by the Devaswom Bench, which includes Justices Anil K. Narendran and P.G. Ajithkumar.

The court considered the petition filed by devotees, emphasizing that the incident constituted a violation of rituals within the temple. However, the request to remove the Executive Officer from his position as part of disciplinary action was not granted by the court. The court urged that such incidents should not be repeated in the future and emphasized the need for vigilance.

The biryani was served in the dining room of the Executive Officer’s office on the pretext of a job being given to the son of an employee. The distribution of the biryani was conducted under the officer’s supervision. The complaint included photographs of the chicken biryani being served.
