Huge increase in the number of young voters, more than 3 lakh young voters

Thiruvananthapuram: There is a huge increase in the number of young voters in the voter list for the Lok Sabha elections. 3,88,000 new voters have been added since October 27, 2023, when the draft voter list was published. There were 77,176 young voters in the draft voter list. This stands at 2,88,533 in the final voter list published on January 22.

18 – 19 year old consenters belong to the category of young voters. This increase in the number of youth voters in a short period of time is the first in the country on an average basis. It is estimated that the increase in the number of youths was due to the state-wide campaign programs conducted under the auspices of the Chief Electoral Office and the campaign conducted at the district levels under the leadership of the District Election Officers.

The number of heterosexual voters was 268 in the draft list. It stands at 309 in the final voter list. As of today, there are 338 people who are heterosexual on the list. Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Kaul said that the increase in the number of youths is due to the extensive campaign programs conducted under the auspices of the Chief Electoral Office and the campaign conducted at the district levels under the leadership of the District Election Officers.
