The restrictions are paying off, with a slight drop in power consumption

Thiruvananthapuram: With the tightening of KSEB regulations, there has been a slight reduction in electricity consumption in the state. But the lack of reduction in power demand during peak hours has worried the electricity board. Power Minister K. Krishnankutty discussed the crisis with the organizations on the board. A high-level meeting will also be held tomorrow.

A slight reduction in electricity consumption has been recorded for the last two days. Yesterday’s power consumption was 110.06 million units. But demand increased during the peak hours of 6 pm to 12 pm. Demand increased to 5728 MW yesterday from 5639 MW on Monday. The lack of reduction in demand during peak hours worries the board.

Minister K. Krishnankutty held a discussion with the service organizations of the board about the power crisis today. The meeting was held online. The objective was to know the instructions of the organizations. A review meeting will be held under the chairmanship of the minister tomorrow to assess the situation after the introduction of local control. Senior officers from Deputy Chief Engineers will participate in the meeting. The meeting will decide on the type of regulation.
