Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council (KCBC) opposes draft environmental impact assessment proposal They demanded that the EIA amend the draft notification. The draft notification is in favor of corporates. KCBC pointed out that this would lead to corruption.
The dissent was made by commenting on the draft Environmental Impact Notice. The current proposals are in favor of corporates. It may be pointed out that this will lead to the industrial progress of the country but the proposals are against the people. People’s concerns need to be addressed and corrected.
Tribal communities have been hit hardest by the Youth League’s efforts to send a quarter of a million emails to the central government, such as the construction of mining dams. Giving concessions to quarries will pose a threat to human life. The safety of those living in hilly areas should be ensured. KCBC said their rights should not be violated by the new law.
