MM Varghese Unlikely to Appear Before ED in Karavannoor Bank Fraud Case

Thrissur: CPM Thrissur District Secretary MM Varghese is unlikely to appear before the ED even today in the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank fraud case. The ED had issued a notice to him asking him to appear today.

It is suggested that Varghese will seek delay to appear after the election. ED officials will be informed about this in writing. MM Varghese is ignoring ED’s notice for the fourth consecutive time.

He was summoned by the ED yesterday to appear for questioning. This is the fourth time that MM Varghese has ignored the ED summons. MM Varghese’s reply to ED is that the election is busy and it is inconvenient to reach.

ED is also likely to take drastic action due to non-appearance of summonses. The ED had also directed Varghese to produce the documents of bank accounts in the names of various committees of the party, including the area committees. The ED has asked to produce the documents to check whether the money stolen from Karuvannur Bank through benami loans has reached these accounts.
