Information Provided by Gokulam Gopalan is Incomplete; ED to Conduct Further Investigations

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) continues its probe against Gokulam Gopalan in connection with violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). The ED has stated that the pen drive submitted by Gopalan does not contain complete information and has demanded full disclosure. The agency is now preparing to conduct further inspections at additional offices of the Gokulam Group.

The fresh round of raids is expected to begin after the 22nd of this month. According to the ED, many details, including information about those who joined the chit funds, have not yet been handed over.

The ED clarified that these inspections are not related to the upcoming film Empuraan. Gokulam Gopalan was recently questioned again due to a lack of clarity in the responses he had previously provided. The interrogation was aimed at clarifying the source and use of ₹591.74 crore, which was allegedly collected in violation of FEMA regulations. The ED recently claimed to have seized cash and documents from Gokulam Gopalan’s offices, amounting to around ₹3 crore from various locations.
