Idukki: An investor committed suicide in front of the Kattappana Rural Development Cooperative Society. Sabu was found hanging in front of the cooperative bank in Mulangassery, Kattappana at around 7.30 am today.
Sabu had gone to the bank yesterday to demand a refund of his deposit. However, he did not receive the deposit back. It is reported that he committed suicide following this. People living near the bank found him dead near the steps of the bank. They then informed the police.
Sabu runs a business in Kattappana. He had deposited money in an institution called Kattappana Rural Development Cooperative Society. He had deposited about Rs. 25 lakh. He had demanded the money back. However, since the bank was in crisis, he was informed that a fixed amount would be paid every month. The amount was paid accordingly. However, yesterday, he had gone to the bank yesterday demanding more money for his wife’s treatment. Then there was an argument with the employees.
Sabu’s wife is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Thodupuzha. She was found dead while investigating after she was not found at home in the morning. The bank, which was previously run by the Congress, came under the CPM administration two years ago. It is a bank operating in crisis. There are only a few depositors here.
