Kannur bomb blast, three people arrested

Kannur: Three people have been arrested in connection with the blast that took place during bomb making in Pannur. Panur police arrested Shabinlal from Cheruparamp, Athul from Kunnothuparamp and Arun from Chendiad. Another person is in police custody in the case. His arrest was not recorded.

With one of them, the police started collecting evidence at the scene around 11.30 am on Saturday. Evidence is being collected in and around the house where the bomb was made. Police is reaching out to more people in connection with the case. The police are also investigating whether anyone has reached the hospital in an injured state seeking treatment. Police has also intensified surveillance in hospitals in nearby districts. Eight people involved in the incident have already been identified. The preliminary conclusion is that around ten people were present at the scene.

The explosion took place when a bomb was being made inside a house in Panoor Moolianthod. The blast took place in the house under construction of Manoharan, a lottery seller. Sherrill, a CPM supporter, was killed on the spot. Vineesh is seriously injured in the hospital. He was the one who planned the bomb making. Vineesh is also the son of a local CPM leader.

The explosion happened near their house. Vinod and Aswat were also injured in the blast. They are undergoing treatment in Kozhikode and Pariaram Medical Colleges. But State Secretary MV Govindan is of the position that the accused have no connection with CPM.
