Kasaragod district authorities have declared a holiday for all educational institutions, including professional colleges, on account of heavy rain warnings. The district is currently under a Red Alert, with an Orange Alert issued for tomorrow. District Collector Imbasekhar announced the closure, extending it to tuition centers, anganwadis, and madrasas. However, the holiday does not apply to model residential schools.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has maintained Red Alerts for five northern districts of Kerala—Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kasaragod, and Kannur—due to the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, districts such as Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, and Palakkad are under an Orange Alert. Tomorrow, Kannur and Kasaragod are expected to remain on Orange Alert, while Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, and Kottayam have been issued a Yellow Alert.
