Kerala Braces for More Rain Today; Yellow Alert Issued in Two Districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning indicating the possibility of heavy rainfall in the state today. Isolated places are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning. A yellow alert has been issued for Malappuram and Wayanad districts today, with chances of isolated heavy showers in these regions.

The IMD has also stated that isolated areas may witness thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds reaching speeds of 40–50 km/h today and tomorrow. Thunderstorms are also likely on Saturday and Sunday.

April 10, 2025: Rough weather conditions and strong winds with speeds of 35–45 km/h, occasionally reaching up to 55 km/h, are expected over the following areas:

  • South Tamil Nadu coast

  • Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Kanyakumari coast

  • Central Bay of Bengal and adjoining regions

  • Southern parts of the southwest Bay of Bengal

Caution is advised for coastal residents and fishermen in these regions.
