Tahawwur Rana, an accused in the Mumbai terror attack case, will be brought to India today. A special aircraft sent by the Indian Air Force is expected to land at Delhi’s Palam airbase by noon with Rana on board. The Central Government has directed authorities to make necessary arrangements to lodge him in Tihar Jail upon arrival.
Earlier in March, the U.S. Supreme Court dismissed a petition filed by Rana seeking to block his extradition to India. Following this decision, the process of bringing him to India was initiated.
The extradition operation is being coordinated under the leadership of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs. Tahawwur Rana, a Pakistani-Canadian national and a member of the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, is wanted in India for his alleged role in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. He is accused of conspiring with his associate and U.S. citizen David Coleman Headley to carry out the attacks on behalf of Pakistani terror groups.
