The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by rain in Kerala over the next five days. The rainfall is expected to be light to moderate in intensity, with isolated areas experiencing heavy rainfall on November 5, 8, and 9. Yellow alerts have been issued for various districts on these dates.
Today, yellow alerts have been announced for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, and Palakkad districts, while on Friday, alerts are in place for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Idukki districts. Additionally, alerts will continue on Saturday for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Idukki.
Currently, a cyclonic circulation is situated over the Mannar Gulf and Sri Lanka, along with another cyclonic circulation in the central Bay of Bengal. Furthermore, another cyclonic system is located over the central Arabian Sea. These systems are expected to cause varying intensities of rainfall in the coming days.
Fishermen along the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts are advised that there are no restrictions on fishing activities today (November 5, 2024). However, caution is advised for the coming days. On Wednesday, there may be strong winds reaching speeds of 35 to 45 km/h, with gusts potentially reaching 55 km/h in the north-central part of the Bay of Bengal and adjacent western Bay of Bengal, which may lead to adverse weather conditions.
