Thiruvananthapuram: In Kerala, the northeast monsoon rains are intensifying during the evenings and nights, while daytime temperatures are on the rise. According to the Meteorological Department, daytime temperatures in Kozhikode city have surpassed 35°C over the past two days, about 3°C above normal levels. Thrissur’s Vellanikkara recorded a temperature rise of 2.9°C yesterday.
Temperatures above 35°C have been observed in all districts except Idukki, Wayanad, Alappuzha, Kollam, and Thiruvananthapuram. High temperatures, ranging from 35°C to 39°C, are expected in most districts today, with isolated rainfall forecast for hilly areas over the next few days.
As a depression forms in the Bay of Bengal and moves toward the Tamil Nadu-Sri Lanka coast on November 12-13, Kerala may experience increased rainfall. Isolated thunderstorms with rain are expected on November 9, 10, 12, and 13, but no rain warnings have been issued for any districts today.
