The Kerala State School Sports Meet officially began yesterday, with competitions in various games starting today. This year, the event will follow an Olympic-style format, a first for the state-level school sports event.
Popular games such as tennis, football, handball, and volleyball will take place today, along with specially designed games for students requiring additional support. Today, the first individual and team medal winners of the meet will be announced.
The eight-day event will kick off athletics competitions on Thursday. In addition to the main venue at Maharaja’s College Ground, competitions will be held at 16 other locations. Swimming events are scheduled to take place entirely in Kothamangalam, while indoor games will be hosted at the Regional Sports Center in Kadavanthra. Other competitions will also be held in Kalamassery and the Town Hall in Kochi.
