Kochi Submerged in Water; Six districts likely to receive heavy rain

Heavy rain in the southern districts of the state and central Kerala. Many parts of Ernakulam city experienced waterlogging due to heavy rain. Kakanad infopark, Aluva-Edapally road, Palarivattam-Kakkanad road and Vahadan Ayyappan road were mainly flooded. Due to this, the traffic jam became worse. Shops have also been flooded.

Ernakulam started experiencing heavy rain from seven o’clock this morning. A long line of vehicles was seen on the road after the waterlogged due to heavy rain. Due to this many people could not reach the office on time. Pedestrians also suffered due to waterlogging on the road.

At Edappally Marottichuvadi, houses and roads were flooded. Traffic jams are also severe in Vaytila, Kalamasery, Kalur and MG Road. A tree fell on top of a KSRTC bus in Fort Kochi due to heavy rain-related winds. No one was hurt. A tree fell on the national highway near the Cherthala railway station, causing vehicular traffic to be disrupted.

Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts are also experiencing heavy rain. At Neyyatinkara, Thiruvananthapuram, a part of the Srikrishna Swamy temple wall collapsed into Neyyar. In Kollam, houses were inundated in Maruthadi, Shaktikulangara and Mangad areas. Waterlogging was experienced at Nilamel and Valakam on MC Road and Kotiyam and Chatanur areas on the National Highway.
