To protect the Earth from global warming, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) has called for the observance of Earth Hour on Saturday, March 22, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM. Earth Hour is observed every year on the last Saturday of March, during which people around the world symbolically turn off their electric lights for one hour to participate in the initiative.
The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has sought public support to observe Earth Hour in the state. This year, instead of the usual last Saturday of March, Earth Hour is being observed on March 22, which also coincides with World Water Day.
Given the increasing threats of global warming, climate change, and natural disasters such as floods, it is essential to implement action plans for energy conservation and environmental protection. KSEB has urged people to join this global initiative by turning off non-essential electric lights and other electrical appliances for one hour from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM on Saturday to help protect the Earth from global warming and climate change.
