Locals Protest Government’s Move to Open Beer-Wine Parlour in Kasaragod

Kasaragod: The government’s decision to open a beer-wine parlour in Kottappuram, Neeleswaram, has triggered strong protests from local residents. The locals have firmly stated that they will oppose the move at any cost, warning that the establishment of a parlour would bring hardship to the area. They are demanding that the government withdraw the decision immediately.

The Excise Department had recently granted permission to open beer-wine parlours in 74 tourist destinations across the state, and Kottappuram in Kasaragod was included in the list. Following this, residents of Kottappuram came out strongly against the plan, declaring that under no circumstances would they allow the setting up of such an establishment in their locality.

They pointed out that the area is densely populated with homes, places of worship, schools, and madrasas, and insisted that any move to open a beer parlour in the Kottappuram coastal region must be scrapped. Complaints have also been submitted to the concerned authorities opposing the decision.
