Lyricist Mankombu Gopalakrishnan Passes Away Due to Heart Attack

Thiruvananthapuram: Renowned lyricist Mankombu Gopalakrishnan has passed away. He was 78 years old. He died at a private hospital in Kochi following a heart attack. Mankombu Gopalakrishnan was admitted to a private hospital in Kochi eight days ago after he was injured in a fall at home. He had contracted pneumonia while undergoing treatment. He died of a heart attack at 4.55 pm today.

Mankombu Gopalakrishnan has written about seven hundred songs in two hundred films. He composed Malayalam songs for Mozhi Mata films including Baahubali. Gopalakrishnan contributed to many hits including Laksharchana Kandhu Madangumbol, Nadan Pattinte Madisheela, Kalidasantae Kavya Bhavana. Hariharan composed the most songs for his films.

All three children were present at the time of his death at a private hospital in Kochi. Balachandran Chullikkad and others had reached the hospital. The funeral time has not been announced. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed his condolences on the demise of Mankombu Gopalakrishnan. The Chief Minister wrote on Facebook that Mankombu Gopalakrishnan was a film lyricist who earned a place in the hearts of his friends with songs that were completely Keralan and touched by cultural life. The Chief Minister also said that he expresses his sorrow and condolences on his demise.
