Malayali scientist Sheena Rani lead the Agni-5 launch mission

India has successfully completed the launch of Agni-5 missile. India successfully test-fired Agni-5 missile yesterday. Sheena Rani, a Malayali scientist from Thiruvananthapuram, took the helm of this mission called ‘Mission Divyastra’. Sheena is a scientist at the Defense Research Development Organization (DRDO) based in Hyderabad and has been involved in Agni missile research since 1999.

While the Agni-5 missile with more than one nuclear warhead and a range of 5,000 km is the pride of India, Sheena Rani is also the pride of the country. Sheena has said that ‘Misail Mana’ya a PJ Abdul Kalam is her inspiration. Missile expert Dr Avinash Chander has also lent great support to Sheena. Sheena has received many awards including Scientist of the Year Award 2016.

The indigenously developed Agni-5 missile using Multiple Independently Targetable Reentry Vehicle (MIRV) technology has successfully completed its first phase test Odisha Dr. The missile, named ‘Mission Divyastra’, was test-fired from APJ Abdul Kalam Island. DRDO scientists can be proud of the success of Mission Divyastra, the first flight test of the Agni-5 missile developed using a multiple independently targetable re-entry vehicle, the Prime Minister took to social media platform X. The Kelpulla missile can carry a nuclear warhead and has a range of 5,500 km. The missile will be within the range of capital Beijing, Moscow in Russia and Nairobi in Kenya.
