Manchester City in talks with Juventus to sign Cristiano Ronaldo

Premier League club Manchester City has entered talks with Serie A team Juventus to sign maverick Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo. As per a report in Goal.com, Ronaldo is keen to leave Juventus after spending three years in Turin. Ronaldo is out of contract next summer and Juventus want to sell him to save on the £500,000 a week wages they pay him plus tax.

Manchester City has opened negotiations with Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes. However, nothing has been agreed thus far, but the talks are advancing. According to SkySports, City are interested in bringing Ronaldo back to the Premier League on a free transfer and are willing to offer him a two-year contract, with a salary of £12.8m-per-season (€15m). Ronaldo, who had earlier represented Manchester United, had once famously remarked that he would never lineup for United’s main rivals. The Juventus striker was left out of the starting XI for the side’s opening Serie A match of the 2021-22 season. The attacker had then come off the bench with 30 minutes left. This comes a week after Ronaldo broke his silence on the transfer rumours surrounding him and categorically stated that he was not returning to Real Madrid because his story at the Spanish club “has been written”. The Portugal star was previously offered to City but the Premier League champions only wanted to sign Kane at the time.
