Kochi. Single Bench of High Court denied permission for fireworks at Maradu Bhagwati Temple. Against this, the Devaswom office bearers filed an appeal in the Division Bench. The court will consider the appeal on Wednesday. Earlier the District Collector had denied permission. With this, the Devaswom officials approached the High Court.
Two people were killed in a fireworks accident in Tripunithura and the collector denied permission for fireworks. The Collector’s action is to point out issues including space limitation. Meanwhile, the High Court had given permission for fireworks in 2019 with strict conditions.
In 2019, the police had registered a case for storing ammunition in a dangerous manner. The court pointed out that a case has been filed against the temple authorities for setting off firecrackers without permission on the 2nd and 9th of this month.
