Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar Emphasizes Courteous Behavior Towards Public in Strict Directive to Transport Department Officials

Thiruvananthapuram: Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar has issued a stern directive to traffic department officials, emphasizing the need for courteous and respectful behavior towards the public. He reminded them that the public is their “master” and should be treated with dignity.

During a recent visit to various RTO offices, the minister observed that officials were interacting poorly with the public, often speaking in an unprofessional manner. “Such language should never be used with the public. Interactions must be conducted with respect and decorum,” he stated.

The minister recalled an incident at a Kudumbashree service center where he witnessed a young man being treated disrespectfully. Although he considered taking immediate action, he chose to overlook it, acknowledging it as a first-time mistake. However, he warned that future incidents would not go unaddressed.

He also recounted a troubling encounter at an RTO office in Palakkad, where he saw an official behaving rudely towards a person expressing frustration over delays in obtaining a license. “There should be no unnecessary harassment of individuals. If any file remains unresolved for over five days, strict action will follow,” he cautioned, noting that the transport commissioner would issue precise directives on the matter.

Additionally, he announced that inspections by vigilance and squads would now include monitoring these interactions, and officials are expected to respond to public inquiries politely. He warned that ignoring directives from the transport commissioner would also lead to consequences.
