High Court to keep body of MM Lawrence in Medical College Mortuary. The court order is on the petition of daughter Asha Lawrence. It has also been suggested that the body should not be handed over to the anatomy department. The court has given instructions to Kalamassery Medical College. The plea will be heard again on Thursday.
Asha Lawrence said that another daughter, Sujata, withdrew her consent to release the body during the hearing. They told the court that the medical college committee’s decision to take over the body was prejudicial and doubted the authenticity of the consent said to have been given by Lawrence.
The court said that there were defects in the hearing and suggested that the body should be kept in the mortuary until Thursday when the petition will be heard again.
It will be checked whether the hearing can be conducted again under the leadership of the Director of Medical Education. The government has been instructed to convey its position in this regard. A position has been sought in the matter of holding a hearing involving a person senior to the principal of the medical college.
