Karuvannur bank fraud case , MM Varghese and Shajan appear before ED

Thrissur: The Enforcement Directorate tightened the noose in the money laundering case related to the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank fraud. CPM Thrissur District Secretary MM Varghese and Councilor PK Shajan appeared before the ED. Both appeared at the ED office around 11 am. ED had rejected MM Varghese’s argument that he should be exempted from questioning till the election is over.

ED has found that CPM has five secret accounts in Karuvannur Bank. ED is mainly seeking information about this account from Varghese. Councilor PK Shajan was a member of the commission of inquiry appointed by the CPM on the Karuvannur disorder. As the person who conducted the investigation, PK Shajan knows exactly who was involved in the irregularities. Therefore, the ED states that the information should be obtained from him.

In the case, CPM leader P.K. Biju was present before the Enforcement Directorate last day. Biju was interrogated by the ED in connection with the financial transaction with the prime accused Satish Kumar. The interrogation lasted for hours.
