The ‘Namo Bharat’ train is set to run in Kerala. The newly announced 50 short-distance ‘Namo Bharat’ trains are expected to be allocated to Kerala, as indicated by the minister. The service will connect two major cities within a distance of 100-250 kilometers, functioning like a shuttle. It will also be possible to connect inter-state cities. The trains will consist of 16 coaches. Meanwhile, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw mentioned that the central government aims to bring double the current rail network in Kerala. The goal is to run more trains. For rail development, land acquisition will be necessary, and full support from the state government is required, including for land acquisition.
There is no shortage of funds for railway development in the country. Even before the budget, ₹14,000 crore has been allocated since July 2024. This financial year, ₹1.14 lakh crore will be invested. Ashwini Vaishnaw clarified at a press conference held at Rail Bhavan that outdated tracks with low capacity will be replaced within five years. At the same time, the Union Minister for Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, announced that ₹3,042 crore has been allocated for railway development in Kerala. Additionally, 35 railway stations will be developed in Kerala, and 200 new Vande Bharat trains will be introduced across the country, he said during a press conference in Delhi.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed their gratitude for the allocation of ₹2.52 lakh crore for the Railway Ministry in the 2025-26 budget. The introduction of new trains and modern coaches will make travel smoother for common people and those from the middle class. A total of ₹4.60 lakh crore has been allocated for railway infrastructure development in this budget.
