Kannur: The charge sheet in the death case of ADM Naveen Babu will be submitted within a week. The investigation has concluded that Naveen Babu’s death was a suicide and that he was allegedly driven to it by the speech of P.P. Divya. It was found that a plan was made to humiliate Naveen Babu during his farewell meeting, and evidence retrieved from Divya’s phone confirms that she herself circulated the related visuals.
It was also revealed that Divya called a local news channel to cover the event. The only remaining piece of evidence to be obtained in the case is the chemical examination report. The charge sheet states that there are 82 witnesses in the case.
Meanwhile, the Kerala High Court rejected a plea seeking a CBI investigation into ADM Naveen Babu’s death. The petition was filed by Naveen Babu’s family, which had previously been dismissed by a single bench as well.
His wife, Manjusha, has insisted that there is suspicion surrounding his death and has demanded a CBI probe. She alleged that the police investigation into the case—where CPM leader and former district panchayat president P.P. Divya is the accused—was ineffective. The family suspects that Naveen Babu may have been murdered and hanged to make it appear as a suicide.
However, the government maintains that the investigation is proceeding properly and that the post-mortem report confirms it was a suicide. The CBI informed the court that it is willing to take over the probe if directed.
Following the court’s dismissal of the petition, Divya responded, stating that one should have the courage to express opinions and not back down, and that the fight will continue.
